Justin Thornton
Founder
Justin Thornton is a real estate developer and operator with experience across the full lifecycle of real estate projects. Over more than a decade as a principal and developer, he has completed more than 20 projects and raised approximately $20 million of outside capital.
His experience spans acquisition, feasibility and financial analysis, capitalization, financing, zoning and entitlement, permitting, community and stakeholder engagement, construction, project management, disposition, and the ownership and operation of rental real estate. His background also includes work in public-sector planning and private land development, where he reviewed development applications, zoning and subdivision requirements, coordinated entitlement and permitting strategies, conducted site due diligence, and worked with government agencies, planning bodies and surrounding communities.
His experience also includes projects that did not proceed according to plan and situations requiring difficult decisions under pressure. Thornton has worked through financing constraints, construction and contractor disputes, permitting and entitlement delays, stakeholder conflicts, capital shortfalls, distressed projects and circumstances in which the original business plan had to be reconsidered. That experience informs a practical approach to identifying problems early, understanding the available options and determining what can realistically be done next.
Through RavenKea, Thornton brings an owner-operator perspective to projects, transactions and complex situations requiring independent judgment, practical oversight and execution experience.
